AI Assistant

Ask about your retirement plan, and get answers from your own numbers

Start Planning

Some questions are easier to ask than to click your way to. The Ready Aim Retire Assistant, now in beta, is one click away in your plan. Ask it about the app, about retirement in general, or about your own plan, and it answers in plain English.

It reads the plan on your screen: your accounts, your income, Social Security, your Chance of Success and the rest. So when you ask why your money runs short, or what waiting until 70 would do, the answer starts from your numbers, not someone else's example.

The assistant in under a minute, on Chris and Jamie's example plan. They are a made-up couple we use in our examples.

Three ways to ask

You choose what it can see

A switch at the top of the assistant sets what it reads and what it may do. It stays on screen, so you always know which one you are in.

  • General questions: your plan is not read. Ask about the app, or about retirement in general.
  • Discuss my plan: reads the plan on screen and explains it. It changes nothing.
  • Suggest changes: reads your plan and can prepare changes for you to review and apply, with Undo.

Switching starts a new conversation, so nothing about your plan follows you into General questions. Earlier conversations are kept for each mode, ready to pick up again.

Asked what the Chance of Success card shows, the assistant answers from Chris and Jamie's plan: 95.8%, so 114 of the 119 historical-market trials stayed funded; 92.4% end with a surplus, 3.4% on track and 4.2% ran out; a median ending balance of about $6.6 million and a worst case of $0 from a 1966 start; and every trial still funded through age 80. It ends with a Take me to the Chance of Success tab button and a Read more card for the help article Reading the Retirement Outlook.

Discuss my plan, answering a question about Chris and Jamie's Chance of Success card.

Three Summary cards, each with an Ask button beside See details: Chance of Success at 96%, net worth today of $1,710,200, and projected net worth

An Ask button on each Summary card starts a question about that card.

Answers you can check

Your numbers, and where they come from

The assistant is built to quote the planner's own results rather than work figures out for itself. Your plan's numbers come from the same run as your Dashboard and Summary, and how-to answers come from our help pages.

  • A Read more card under an answer opens the help article it came from
  • Take me there buttons open the right tab or box in your plan and point at the setting
  • Starter questions picked from your own plan, such as "What does my Chance of Success mean for my plan?"
  • An Ask button on Summary cards and Coach suggestions starts a question about that card

Every answer is written by AI, so check anything that matters. A thumbs down lets you tell our support team what went wrong.

Suggest changes

Nothing changes until you say so

Ask for a what-if, such as retiring a year later or claiming Social Security at 70. In Suggest changes, the assistant prepares it as a review card: each setting with its value now and the new one.

  • Change my plan makes the changes in the plan you are working on
  • Apply to a copy puts them in a new copy, so your plan stays as it is
  • Not now leaves everything as it was

It changes your plan's settings only: nothing is bought, sold or moved, and Undo puts them back. You turn Suggest changes on once, and it prepares only the changes you ask for or agree to. Applying them is part of Planner+.

In Suggest changes, asked what if Chris retired a year later, the assistant prepares a review card for the plan Master Plan: Retire at, 62 to 63, You asked for this. The card notes that it changes the plan's settings only and can be undone, with the buttons Change my plan, Apply to a copy and Not now.

A change prepared for review. Nothing happens until Chris and Jamie choose.

Explains, never sells

The assistant explains your plan and shows what an option you ask about would do to it. It never names funds, insurers or other financial products, and it never tells you what to buy.

It lays out options and their trade-offs. The decision stays yours.

Your plan, your data

Before your first question, the assistant tells you what it sends. Your messages and a summary of your plan go to Anthropic, the AI company that powers it, and your data is not used to train AI models.

In General questions, nothing about your plan is sent. Conversations are saved so we can improve the assistant.

Ask from anywhere in your plan

Open the assistant from any tab of your plan. It always reads the plan you are working on, a saved plan included, and it tells you when your plan is still calculating rather than guess.
